ETHOS Lab is looking to hire a Lab Assistant for 15 hours a week to assist the daily management. The part-time student position primarily consists of assisting the Lab Manager in various tasks, cover opening hours in the lab to assist digital and ethnographic method inquiries, supporting the lab community and students as well as doing administrative tasks of updating statistics, website and SoMe platforms.
ETHOS Lab is a methods lab at ITU that serves both the research and student communities in experimenting with mixed methods in shifting themes revolving around data. We have established a learning environment that welcomes diverse sets of interests and methods, we regularly run public events and engage industry in our activities and run a lively Junior Researcher programme.
Your primary tasks will be:
- Planning and coordinating teaching and research events and activities
Supporting the ETHOS Lab community by enrolling students, volunteers and Junior Researchers in activities and assisting with teaching and consulting on ethnographic and digital methods.
- Helping with outreach through website, newsletter and social media channels
- Harvesting and scraping data with open digital methods tools and visualizing with Gephi software
- Documentation of lab work processes and procedures in order to ensure accountability
- Documentation and collection of Lab achievements over the last 5 years in celebration of our 5th anniversary
We expect that you take an active interest and have experience with both ethnographic and digital methods. It is necessary that you are structured, engaged and willing to take an active role in the ITU student community. Although not required, it will be an advantage if you have participated in Digital Methods Summer or Winter School in Amsterdam, or similar. Students with a bachelor in Global Business Informatics (ITU) or Techno-Anthropology (Aalborg) are especially welcome to apply.
